Doctorant – Development of Oxygen Evolution Electrode for Alkaline Water Electrolysis

In an effort to relieve our strong reliance on fossil fuels and to reduce greenhouse gas effects, there is an ever-growing interest in using alkaline water electrolysis (AWE) to produce renewable and environment-benign hydrogen fuel. Durable and efficient non-precious metal electrodes running at larger current densities restrict the development of commercially feasible AWE. We suggest that a prominent anode material, carrying a kinetically sluggish oxygen evolution reaction (OER), can be developed by HVOF and codeposition.
